World's Top 500 Richest Lose $1.4 Trillion This Year; Elon Musk Leads Table
Investors have lost trillions of dollars in the stock market this year. Tesla founder Elon Musk has lost a whopping $100 billion in wealth over the last two months. The world’s richest man has lost $0.6 billion in wealth per day in 2022, totaling a loss of over $100 billion.
The world’s top richest lost $1.4 trillion this year. Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao lost the most amount of wealth at $85.6 billion because of the crypto market losses. Amazon chief Jeff Bezos lost an amount of $65.3 billion.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Mark Zuckerberg lost $64.4 billion and Warren Buffet lost $56.8 billion. Stock markets have faced some of their worst days this year due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and rising inflation across the world.
Tesla stock losses
Shares of Tesla sank to an 11-month low in May 2022. The loss wiped over $30 billion from Tesla's market capitalization. Shares of Tesla have racked up big losses since Musk suggested he would sell about 10 percent of his stake in November 2021.

Elon Musk’s total wealth crossed $300 billion in January this year. However, since then, Musk has seen billions wiped out every day. According to Forbes, Musk’s wealth now stands at $203 billion.
This week, Elon Musk also said that Tesla needed to cut staff by 10 percent. He sent an email titled "Pause all hiring worldwide" to Tesla executives. He also added that he had a "super bad feeling" about the economy.
Earlier, Musk also sent an email to Tesla employees asking them to return to the office or quit their jobs. Reportedly, Tesla has nearly 100,000 full-time employees across the world.
