Israeli forces kill a Palestinian during West Bank raid: Palestinian HM
An 18-year-old Palestinian was killed by Israeli troops during a raid in the West Bank, a landlocked territory near the coast of the Mediterranean in the Levant region of Western Asia, on Friday, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
According to the Israeli military, soldiers shot at suspects who fired and hurled bombs and stones at Israeli forces working in the Tulkarm area of the northern West Bank. The military stated that one individual was hit but there were no injuries among its personnel.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said that Mahmoud Abu Sa’an was shot in the head by the Israeli forces. WAFA news agency reported that a military operation by the Israelis in a nearby refugee camp led to confrontations with Palestinians.
In two camps in the Tulkarm area in the West Bank, the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees had registered 40,700 Palestinians. They were displaced or fled their homes during the 1948 war that preceded Israel's establishment.
Over the last 15 months, violence in the West Bank has risen due to increased Israeli raids, Palestinian street attacks, and Jewish settlers' raids on Palestinian towns.
In July, there were drone strikes and fire fights between Israeli forces and Palestinians in Jenin, a Palestinian city in the northern West Bank. Under the Israeli military operation, Israeli forces used a drone to attack an apartment in Jenin's large refugee camp. The Palestinian health ministry reportedly claimed that five Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces.
Reportedly, Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the State of Palestine and the Palestinian National Authority, condemned the attacks.
Last month, the militants from the Gaza Strip fired five rockets toward Israel after the forces withdrew from Jenin. In retaliation to the rockets fire, Israeli jets reportedly hit an underground weapons manufacturing facility in the Gaza Strip.
