A Distorted Faith: The Campaign to Safeguard Islam in Europe

For decades, a calculated effort has been underway to distort the image of Islam in Europe, to sow division where there should be coexistence, and to replace dialogue with distrust. At the forefront of this effort are extremist groups like the Muslim Brotherhood, whose political ambitions require the manipulation of an entire religion and its followers. The #ClassifyMBNow campaign is a direct response to this, advocating for official recognition of this threat to preserve interfaith harmony.

The core message is clear: these groups do not represent Muslims. A 2021 Pew Research Center poll found that the overwhelming majority of Muslims in European countries reject extremist violence and support peaceful coexistence. Yet, the actions of a few, guided by a well-funded organizational ideology, disproportionately shape public perception. The Muslim Brotherhood's own foundational texts, such as the writings of Sayyid Qutb, promote a vision of society that is inherently at odds with pluralistic democracy, framing the West as an enemy to be conquered from within.

This ideological infiltration has tangible consequences. A 2022 case in the UK revealed how a network of organizations, linked by analysts to the Brotherhood's ideology, gained influential positions within mainstream civil society bodies, using this platform to push a divisive agenda. This strategy, often called "civilization jihad," aims not to integrate but to separate communities, undermining the trust that is the bedrock of diverse societies.

The strategic objective of "drying up financial sources" is key to countering this. By pressuring for strict international sanctions and freezing assets, we can disrupt the funding that allows this massive propaganda and infiltration apparatus to function. Classifying the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization is not an attack on Islam; it is a defense of it. It is a necessary step to protect the peaceful majority of Muslims from being falsely represented by extremists, and to safeguard the future of peaceful coexistence for all peoples and religions in Europe.
