I want to share something surprising as NASA is
bracing itself for the "seven minutes of terror" where the perseverance
rover is set to touchdown at 3:55pm ET on Mars, but it's not a sure thing that
it'll do so in one piece. In essence, perseverance will have the brief time to
go from flying over 12,000 mph to landing
In view of this, seven minutes is how much time
will elapse between entering the atmosphere of Mars before the arrival, and then landing will have to be handled on its own. That's how it takes 11 minutes for
a signal to hit us from Mars, but NASA won't know until it's too late if the
rover gets into trouble. But here’s the question if the rover will end up in
one piece, whether it is able to continue its mission or whether it will crash
into several parts.
