'Missile strike in Jazan by Houthis harms Yemeni people's lives’ says US State Department
On Thursday, a fuel tank at an oil refinery in the Jazan district of Saudi Arabia burst into flames after being struck by a missile, an assault suspected to be done by Yemen's Houthi rebels. On Friday, the US State Department representative stated that the recent attack on Saudi Arabia harms Yemeni people's lives. However, there were no casualties reported after the attack.
The projectile launch came following the Yemeni government and Saudi Arabia stated they agree to a truce and joined to perform peace talks coordinated by the United Nations.
As per the National News, an attack on oil facilities near the Saudi-Yemen line of control is a strategy commonly utilized by the Houthi rebels.
The authorities didn't specify who was behind the attack, which happened on the night before the 6th commemoration of the Saudi-led military initiation in Yemen.
Recently, Yemen's Houthi rebels increased missile assaults on Saudi Arabia, especially on its oil establishments. They have additionally launched a ground attack to hold control of Yemen's gas-rich city of Marib.
Yemen has been buried in clash since Riyadh drove a military coalition into the nation in March 2015 to set up the globally recognized authority following they were removed from power by the Houthi rebels.
The US State Department representative Ned Price expressed in an official statement that "the Houthis' activities are swelling the misery of the Yemeni public and imperiling the peace efforts at a crucial point in time when the international community is trying to jointly find a solution for a truce in the nation."
This recent attack by Houthis is one of the many attempts to jeopardize global oil supplies and threaten the Yemini population, Price added.
Brig-Gen Turki Al Malki, the Arab Coalition representative stated that the attacks were cowardly and it shakes the center of the global economy, The National News reported.
