Syria--the only ground which connects Russia and the United States

Relations between the United States and Russia are the worst in the last two decades. There was a point in recent times when people started suspecting that the countries were at the edge of a full blown war, which was later on controlled only because of diplomatic strategies and business grounds.

Things got bad to the extent that Russia limited the number of American workers recruited in its embassy and the US limited its travel connections with Russia. Having said that, there is one common land where the two nations seem to have equal internet access so much so that they are even ready to talk to each other even if it is over a call.

As per the recent press statement issued by the White House, the presidents of the two nations talked over phone on Friday where they discussed their look out towards Syria in terms of the border forces and humanitarian assistance.

The White House stated, ‘The leaders commended the joint work of their respective teams following the US-Russia Summit that led to the unanimous renewal of cross-border humanitarian assistance to Syria today in the UN Security Council.”

Other than that, President Joe Biden also raised the issue of ransom attacks on the intelligence units of the United States by the criminals based out of Russia. The US is troubled with the non-stop attacks on its units threatening the security of the nation. The problem increased when it was not limited to the US but other countries also started to complain about the same.

Biden emphasised on Russia taking steps to avoid such ransom attacks in future and come up with provisions that these attacks are dealt with seriousness and people committing such crimes are treated harshly. Russia on the other hand is yet to give any response in this regard but earlier, it had completely refuted claims of these criminals being based out of Russia.

The press release concluded with Biden assuring Russia of cooperation in this regard and also stressing that the United States is willing to take any step to ensure safety of its people so Russia should be careful of not targeting its critical infrastructure and stop the attacks, which are adding to the troubles of the country.
