Qatar condemns attack on an oil tanker off the coast of Oman

On Monday, Qatar condemned an attack on the oil tanker off the coast of Oman and requested an international law to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the near future.

The Qatari foreign ministry stressed the threat such activities bring in the region and asked for the interference of the intestinal forum so that it can be regulated with a law. The ministry also added that Qatar totally rejects such incidents especially when it concerns the safety and security of the region.

The statement released by the ministry said it rejects, “actions that would disrupt the safety and security of international maritime transport and impede the movement of ships and tankers."

The attack was blamed on Iran with even countries like the United States, Israel, and Britain blaming the middle eastern country for illegally invading the tanker. The tanker was controlled by Israel and was off the coast of Oman when the incident occurred. Tehran, however, has denied any involvement in the matter.

The attack was executed by a drone and resulted in the death of two crew members, one of them was a Briton and the other one was a Romanian.
