Turkey airstrikes at areas of Northern Iraq, Syria to attack PKK

On Wednesday, Turkey carried out airstrikes on PKK terrorist group. The airstrike included the places where they have their training camps, shelters, and ammunition storage.

It was mostly around the parts of Northern Iraq and Syria. The attack was not a covert attempt rather Turkey's National Defense Ministry announced the attack themselves.

According to the statement given by the Turkish Defense Ministry, the strikes have targeted some points at the Sinjar Mountains and in the Karacak region in northern Iraq. The Derik region in Syria has also witnessed airstrikes on Wednesday.

The aim of this operation was to majorly control the activities at the Turkish border as there were security breaches in recent days which were confirmed to be terrorist threats and hence, the government was forced to take this action.

"Terrorists' shelters, caves, tunnels, ammunition depots, and so-called headquarters and training camps were targeted," the ministry statement said. The operation was named Winter Eagle and it attacked the PKK in its Syrian branch YPG in Syria.

The camps witnessed strikes and the parts which were majorly attacked were the shelters, caves, tunnels, ammunition depots, bases, and training camps, as told by the ministry.

The statement also added that the country will keep up its spirit to fight terrorists to safeguard itself from attacks. It will keep its efforts to the optimum till the last surviving terrorist is neutralized.
