Saudi Arabia demands halt to Israeli attacks as more Palestinians die in the raid

Saudi Arabia on Tuesday demanded international action to halt attacks by Israeli armed forces on Palestinians because three more people died in an Israeli raid in Nablus in the northern West Bank.

At a Cabinet meeting in Jeddah, a Saudi Arabian port city, chaired by Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the King of Saudi Arabia, ministers urged the international communities to take action to end the conflict.

Recently, 3 Palestinians were killed and 40 injured in an Israeli raid. Many Palestinians took part in the three funerals, the largest in Nablus for 20 years.

A 17-year-old Moamen Jaber died from his wounds in a hospital in Hebron, a Palestinian city in the southern West Bank, after being shot by Israeli soldiers.

The recent deaths brought the number of people killed by Israeli forces so far in 2022 in the West Bank and Gaza Strip to 130. Tuesday’s deaths came after Israeli forces surrounded a house in the old city of Nablus, a Palestinian city in the West Bank, in the morning. Nabil Aburudina, the spokesperson for the Palestinian Authority, also condemned the killings in Nablus by the Israeli forces. He also claimed that the Israeli government was not interested in achieving peace and stability.

According to Arab News, the Palestinians believe that the recent attacks by the Israeli military in Jenin, Gaza, and Nablus are linked to the Israeli election campaign.

Most world powers deem Israeli settlements in occupied territory in the West Bank as illegal. However, Israel, citing historical, biblical, and political links to the West Bank and East Jerusalem, captured the occupied territories. According to media reports, more than 200,000 Israeli settlers live in East Jerusalem, and nearly 500,000 live in settlements scattered across the occupied West Bank. Palestinians also want the occupied West Bank as part of their future independent state.
