‘Reinstate Trump?’ Elon Musk asks Twitter days after the 2024 election announcement
The world's richest person and the new head of Twitter, Elon Musk, started a poll on the micro-blogging site about the United States (US) 2024 Presidential election.
In a tweet, he asked users, “Reinstate former President Trump?” He also gave the users the option of “Yes” or “No.” “Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” read another tweet, which means “the voice of the people is the voice of God.”
The former president of the US, Donald Trump, was permanently banned from Twitter in 2021 when the Capitol Hill riots took place. Twitter banned his account “due to the risk of further incitement of violence.”
Earlier this week, Trump announced that he would be running for the presidency again in the 2024 elections. While announcing his decision, Trump reportedly said, “In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States.” He also gave a long-hour speech on the US elections. Subsequently, people started sharing their opinions about the US election on the micro-blogging site.
Over the last few days, Musk has been massively criticized for the decisions he has taken for Twitter. People slammed Musk for laying off employees and charging money for the blue tick.
A large number of users kept asking the question on the social media platform, ‘Is Twitter dying?’ Many people also shared memes to criticize the new owner of Twitter. #RIPTwitter also remained one of the top trends on Twitter on Friday.
Musk announced a $44 billion deal to acquire the social media firm in April, then backed off, and then stepped forward, and completed the acquisition last month. Since his takeover, Twitter has been talked about on all social media sites.
He has been in the limelight ever since he purchased the social media company. He has started sharing his opinion on his Twitter account.
