Israel-Palestine and demographic problem
In the last month, Benjamin Netanyahu the Prime Minister started the most extremist government in Israel. They had ever seen. They have two parties that were previously categorized as a terrorist groups by the USA, they are Itamar Ben-Gvir of the Jewish Power party and Bezalel Smotrich of the Religious Zionism party. These both are followers of Rabbi Meir Kahane whose party was banned in the 1980s.
Yair Lapid, the ex-Prime minister of Israel also shared his view on the current government as “the most irresponsible man in the Middle East”. He made this comment after the highly risky matter of the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex. Because of harboring fascist ideology Smotrich also faced criticism. He was blamed for planning an attack on a highway in Gaza disengagement in 2005, but he denied it.
But the most dangerous factor of these kinds of ideology is that they are pushing Palestinians to leave their homeland and they are forcing it.
Smotrich said to the Knesset in 2021 that the first prime minister of Israel David Ben-Gurion should finish the job and in that year 1948 he should throw all the Arabs out of the country. He said that Arab politicians and other Muslims who do not follow Jewish rule should not remain in Israel.
Ben-Gvir said that Israeli should encourage and support Palestinians who do not believe in Israel, to leave the country.
Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics said that they have around 9.7 million residents. And in which approximately 74% are Jewish and the rest 21 % are Arab. Since 2009 the Jewish population has been falling gradually. Arab percent increased when they were 80%.
The shifting demographics lead to a big concern, and the main reason is falling the majority of Jews in Palestine.
Population parity is a big issue in the politics of Israel. The country is so-called democracy but they are facing many radical issues like excluding the people on the base of religion and faith.
But, if in the future the Palestinians become the majority automatically they will get the right to vote. And then Israel’s status as a “Jewish state” would be in danger.
