Israeli military launches major operation in West Bank’s Jenin

After Israel launched a large military campaign in the West Bank, a territory near the coast of the Mediterranean in the Levant region of West Asia, there have been drone strikes and firefights between Israeli forces and Palestinian terrorists in Jenin, a Palestinian city in the northern West Bank.

According to the Israeli military, at least seven militants have been killed in recent strikes and fights. According to Palestinian health officials, five people have been killed and 30 people have been injured.

Jenin has witnessed numerous Israeli military incursions in recent years, and local Palestinians have been linked to a number of attacks against Israelis.

The Israeli military operation, which appears to be one of the most extensive in years in the West Bank, started on Monday morning. Israeli authorities used a drone to attack an apartment in Jenin's large refugee camp.

The Jenin Brigades reportedly said, "We will fight the Israeli forces until the last breath. We work together and are unified from all factions and military formations."

According to the Palestinian health ministry, five Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces, while at least seven other people were admitted to hospitals due to injuries.

According to media reports, Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the State of Palestine and the Palestinian National Authority, condemned the recent Israeli operation. Mahmoud Abbas called it "a new war crime against our defenseless people.” He called for the Palestinian leadership to hold an “urgent meeting” on the Israeli operation.

According to the official Wafa news agency, Palestinian Authority, and Jordan have held talks on the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) operation in the West Bank city of Jenin.

According to media reports and various sources, the refugee camp is home to hundreds of armed fighters from militant organizations such as Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Fatah.
