US Dept of Justice blames Iranian nationals for indulging in kidnapping practices against US, Canada and UK
An investigative report by the Justice department of the United States has confirmed that four Iranian nationals were involved in plotting kidnapping against one of its journalists on the ground. There were efforts made to know what was the name of the journalist/ author who was being targeted here but all in vain after the department denied revealing any name associated with the plot.
However, an Iranian author has come out confirming that it was her who was the target of the plotting. Her name is Mash Alinejad, who is an Irnaian born author, and the pilot targeted her because apparently she was ‘too critical’ of Iran in one of her latest writings.
The issue does not end here. Along with her, the plot also targeted people from the United Kingdom and Canada, especially those who were too critical of Iran. The justice department revealed that the four Iranian nations, who were people from the country’s intelligence units, were also planning to take these people to a third country.
The details also reveal that even money was offered to the relatives of the targets living in Iran to lure them into giving out information about the location of the target. There were private investigators who were hired for this purpose and they were the ones keeping an eye on the target’s house in Brooklyn.
The indictment revealed that they had also set up a high definition live video feed of property. To execute the evacuation from America, the plotters have decided to use military size speedboats from New York City and maritime routes to Venezuela, which is an Iranian ally.
The author talked to the New York Times to make a statement where she bravely said that the plot against her only showed that the Iranian officials were scared of her otherwise they would not have stooped to this low. “They would not send anyone here to kidnap me,” she said.
The Iranian officials got help while in American borders by a California resident Niloufar Bahadorifar, who was arrested by the US facilities on August 1. Even though she is not directly accused of plotting with the intelligence team, she is responsible for providing financial aid and any kind of assistance to the team. Not only did she support Iran in an abduction plan but also broke the sanction which had banned financial transactions with Iran.
William Sweeney, the head of New York's FBI office, also confirmed the incident adding that they wanted to target a US based journalist by coming to our soil and doing whatever they like but the US will never let it happen on its watch.
