“A Wasted Opportunity For Madrid”

Here’s something good that I want to share with what I read today. It’s about how should the Palestinians and Arabs have gone to the Madrid Conference? One may say it was a misstep, yet around then we, as youthful intifada columnists coming from Palestine, felt it was a gigantic achievement, having carried the Palestinian reason to this focal stage. How all of this was squandered, and by whom, will be bantered for quite a long time.

Looking at it, one thing is clear: The Palestinians from the Occupied Territories who held up the PLO and were detained with all due respect of the sole and real agent of the Palestinian public today feel double-crossed by the administration that came from abroad, clutched power and has not allowed the neighborhood populace an opportunity to be controlling everything. By accumulating power, both Yasser Arafat and Mahmoud Abbas blundered in their estimations and, thus, squandered the large accomplishment of the worldwide harmony gathering in Madrid.
