Saudi Arabia’s KSrelief provides aid to Yemenis in flood-hit Al-Mahra

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) provided urgent aid to Yemenis in the flood-hit Al-Mahra Governorate. Yemenis were affected by recent torrential rainfall and floods.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, KSrelief distributed at least 50 tents and 50 shelter bags to 300 people in Yemen. KSrelief’s immediate response was a continuation of Saudi’s efforts to provide support to Yemenis during the tough situation.

Al-Mahra Governorate and other southern and eastern governorates in Yemen have witnessed heavy rainfall this month. Floods also affected the everyday lives of the people.

Earlier, KSrelief launched various projects to support Yemen’s healthcare sector and provide medical aid and services to Yemenis. Reportedly, in July, 3,606 Yemenis received medical services by KSrelief in the Hiran District in the Hajjah Governorate in Yemen.

KSrelief regularly provides its humanitarian assistance to Yemen. The Kingdom also performs surgeries to separate conjoined twins from Yemen. In July,  KSrelief performed a surgery to separate Yemeni conjoined twins from the Aden governorate. Al-Rabeeah, the general supervisor of KSrelief and head of the medical and surgical team, conducted the operation. In May, doctors in Saudi Arabia separated conjoined twins from Yemen after a 'complicated' 15-hour operation.

In July, mines planted by the Houthi militia across Yemen were dismantled by KSrelief's Masam project. The total number of  1,538  mines were removed in July under KSRelief’s Masam project. The team removed 54 anti-tank mines and 86 non-explosive ammunition in the Aden governorate. As many as 266 anti-tank mines and 294 non-explosive ammunition were removed from the Marib district.

KSrelief launched the Masam project in 2018 with the aim to protect civilians in Yemen and safeguard the delivery of urgent humanitarian supplies to Yemenis.

The war between the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition has caused a terrible humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
