Omantel tops 5G utilization in Middle East

 Omantel is the first operator in the Sultanate of Oman to achieve such figures in 5G deployment and has established itself as a leader among the best 5G network operators in the area after three years of unrelenting work across the country. Omantel's 5G now accounts for more than 60% of the total wireless access traffic on its network.

After leading the commercialization of the FWA and eMBB (Enhanced Mobile Broadband) services and significantly increasing all basic 5G outdoor coverage in Oman's major cities in 2022, Omantel was the first operator in the Sultanate of Oman to offer 5G services. Omantel takes great pride in being one of the top regional 5G operators and in dominating the 5G market in the Sultanate of Oman.

Omantel collaborates with partners and vertical industries to advance digital transformation in those sectors. Omantel, Hutchison Ports Sohar, and Huawei worked together during the previous GITEX to successfully launch the 5G smart port use case in the Sultanate of Oman. In the Middle East, this was the first use of 5G in the port industry.

Omantel is also utilizing 5G to advance cloud gaming. It just launched the potent cloud-based GeForce Now for its home broadband subscribers in collaboration with NVIDIA and Zain. Gamers can simply connect to their preferred gaming retailers and platforms, such as Steam, Ubisoft, and Epic Games, using GeForce Now to play online.
