Recently, Tech billionaire Elon Musk went private on Twitter. He made headlines again over this incident. However, why did Musk go private on Twitter?

Musk reportedly went private to check the reach and engagement of his tweets. He said in one of his latest tweets, “Made my account private until tomorrow morning to test whether you see my private tweets more than my public ones.”

He is the second most followed person on Twitter. He has over 127 million followers as of 2 February 2023. He is always active on Twitter and replies to his followers.

Recently, Twitter users complained about their tweets not getting enough visibility until the account privacy was switched to private mode. These complaints created havoc on the social media platform. Musk reportedly said that something was wrong. Subsequently, he made his account private.

Some users complained about being shadowbanned on the social media platform. Shadowbanning is a method in which social media platforms limit or restrict the visibility of a user's content without informing the user. The content would be accessible to social media users and their followers. However, the content would not be visible to other users or to the general public.

Since taking over the social media platform in October 2022, Musk has made various headlines. Recently, Musk revealed that he works all day long to run his five companies: Tesla, SpaceX, Twitter, The Boring Company, and Neuralink. The tech billionaire wrote on Twitter, “I work all day, then go home & play work simulator.”
