Elon Musk transforms many rooms at Twitter headquarters into bedrooms for employees
According to a Forbes story, the new leader of Twitter has transformed a number of office spaces into compact sleeping quarters at the company's headquarters in San Francisco. Unmade mattresses, dull drapes, and enormous conference room telepresence monitors are all hallmarks of the rooms. Not only that, but one of the rooms also contains two office armchairs, a table lamp, a queen bed, and vivid orange carpeting.
The mattresses are believed to be for the last remaining "hardcore" employees who can stay and work late at the office, according to a source at Twitter who spoke with Forbes. No announcement or context was given to the employees. "It doesn't look good. Another tacit expression of disdain, I suppose. There isn't a conversation. Beds seemed similar."
There are four to eight-bedroom pods per floor, according to the portal, and they appear to be cozy.
Musk gave hundreds of Twitter employees the choice to sign up for "long hours at high intensity" or quit last month. At least half of Twitter's staff have been let go by the new owner, and several have left due to the demanding work environment.
After rejecting Elon Musk's "hardcore," some Twitter employees in the Boston office recorded a countdown to their termination.
Former Twitter employees Matt Miller and his coworkers recorded a video where they counted down to their termination. In the lead-up to losing access to the company's portals, the group kept a countdown a la the new year. It's been a ride, Miller captioned the tweet on Twitter.
The "Chief Twit" didn't appear to be concerned, even in the face of the most recent development in the protracted story of Twitter under Musk's authority. I'm not overly concerned because the finest folks are staying, Musk tweeted.
Notably, since the tech billionaire took control of Twitter last month, he has let go of a work-from-home policy, imposed long hours, and fired about 50% of the staff.
